That was a solid, fun, punishing course. Fast and flowing, then steep and windy. It’s the kind of thing that makes you want to vomit, grin, and cry a little all in the span of a few minutes. Kudos to the course designers.
Huge thanks as well to SRAM support for fixing my bike during the cat4 race. I’ve never had to pit before, and it was about as pleasant and smooth as having a damaged bike can possibly be. You guys rock.
Also thanks to the organizers for putting the event on, Kenny for being the best announcer I’ve ever heard in any kind of racing, and everyone who let me hide from the cold in your tents. Y’all are amazing, and a fantastic representative sample of why I’ve had such an amazing first season in cross.
What an awesome course. The best version yet. Love the way you made the most of the sand and the other terrain. Can’t wait to do this again next year. One of the best race venues in the series for sure. Thanks to everyone who put on the race. Great job!
With one race left on the CCC calendar, we wanted to remind everyone what cyclocross, specifically the Chicross Cup, is all about. If your team has a tent welcome in someone new, cheer on a stranger, and congratulate your nemesis. Offer a hand shake to every official, high five the series volunteers, hug Kenny Labbe and photo bomb a photographer (JUST KIDDING keep your tongue in your mouth). It’s the best way to insure that next fall there will be someone to challenge yourself against.
I will post some more shots here soon of Masters, SS, Jr and Women 4: https://www.flickr.com/photos/121357775@N05/albums/72157672832752364/with/30774382930/

Awesome pictures!!!!
Nowhere to hide on that power-hungry course, but plenty of chances to eat it in the sand. An exercise in going backward in the Cat 4 race:
